Reading is Awesome

Jaimen loves story time before bed. He loves the excitement of picking the books he wants to read.
Here are a few of Jaimen's favorite books, why he loves them so, and why I love them too.

He likes momma to read him this one, because the story is all about Little Llama and Momma Llama. I like that this book is just 'ours', it rhymes very cute, has funny illustrations of Baby Llama freaking out, and when we come to the page where she is doing dishes and on the phone he always asks. "Who momma llama talking?"

He likes daddy to read this one, and sometimes momma too. He likes how daddy does all the fun noises and he likes to join in and do them too. In fact, we aren't quite sure what a hippopotamus says, but in the book it states "He can sound like a hippopotamus chewing" "Grum, Grum" So now that is what hippo's say -Grum Grum


This has got to be my new favorite one. The illustrations are amazing! I just get caught up looking at every single detail in each picture. The story is about a pig and an elephant and how even though you can be so different from someone, you can love that person so much. I cry a little each time I read this one. I think this teaches a good lesson, not me crying, but the book.



Jaimen likes to participate in the reading of this book. 'And the dog said' "Not I." 'And the cat said' "Not I". 'And the mouse said' "Not I". He just loves being able to take on their voices in this book. And I love that it teaches him that when asked to help the nice respectable thing to do is Help. ( I know he is 2, maybe it will teach him this lesson when he is 5?)


This isn't particularly a 'favorite' of his. He just said some funny stuff the other night when I read it to him.

Alan is not very happy about Jaimen's portrayal of him in this book.

I however am quite satisfied, check out them chompers I've got. And I have always wanted to 'walk like an Egyptian' (if you did not read that last line with a bit of a tune there is something wrong with you.)

And of course this one. We just barely started reading this one last week, and already I called Jaimen a Wild Thing and he said 'I want to be Max'. I was stunned to hear that he remembers the boys name already, and that he would relate what I called him to this book.

Jaimen has probably close to 150 books already, and we are kind of getting sick of reading the same ones. So if any of you have some favorites, let me know what they might be so we can check them out.

I absolutely LOVE the blocks, I giggled with glee when I found out I had actually won, I even told Alan last night I almost peed a little. He thinks I am a geek, and maybe I am.

2 months

I am a little late on posting about Presley's 2 month status.... I have been crying to much to be able to post.
I am so sad she is already 2 months, before I know it she will be 2 years and telling me "NO!"

Presley is 11.1lbs and 22 .25inches
She is in the 50% for both.


About Presley:
loves to smile
loves her momma like no one else (I'm the one with the boobs, and she knows it)
talks to everyone
waking up only once at night- if I am lucky- this happened for a week straight, we're back to twice
loving bath time
eating a lot of yummy milk
holding her head up
looking around, finding voices
playing or holding Jaimen's motorcycles or cars (I don't know how she manages this yet, but I will figure it out)


Jaimen has been doing well with everything except for when he says "No wan Pesley, take her back to hospidal"
About Jaimen:
calling lasagna "basagna"
making momma sing 'Rain Rain Go Away' or "the snowman one" (Which is 'The Old Man is Snoring') I am not sure why he thinks its a snowman :)
asking me to cubble (cuddle) at night and when I do, he gets a tight grip around me & doesn't want to let go
singing Presley "Wok a Bye Baby"
kicking the dogs less this week
wishing momma would take him somewhere, just the two of us
telling momma her shirts are 'darling' and complimenting me like crazy
sleeping with two toys/dolls/monkeys/animals and one has to be on each side of his pillow like this:

OUCH!!

I wasn't going to post this but.... I have MASTITIS. Ouch! is all I have to say. Well not all.
I am only posting so that you all feel bad for me and give me kind words of encouragement to get through this.

Here is the definition and symptoms of Mastitis.

Definition:

Mastitis is an infection of the breast tissue that causes pain, swelling and redness of the breast. Mastitis most commonly affects women who are breast-feeding, although in rare circumstances this condition can occur outside of lactation.

Often, mastitis occurs within the first six weeks after birth (postpartum), but it can happen later during breast-feeding. The condition can leave you feeling exhausted and rundown, making it difficult to care for your baby.

Sometimes mastitis leads a mother mistakenly to wean her baby before she intends to. But you can continue breast-feeding while you have mastitis.

Symptoms:

• Breast tenderness or warmth to the touch
• General malaise or feeling ill
• Swelling of the breast
• Pain or a burning sensation continuously or while breast-feeding
• Skin redness, often in a wedge-shaped pattern
• Fever of 101 F (38.3 C) or greater

OUCH!!

Nuff said.

Okay there was a picture to go along with the Symptoms, but I didn't really think it proper to put a picture of a red swollen breast on my blog. Nor do I now think it is proper to tell you all that I have Mastitis, but oh well too late, I am posting anyways.

Honestly it feels like someone is slowly cutting my nipple off with a serrated knife, or worse.

I have had it since Sunday, and just got antibiotics for it last night. Although I have medicine for it I still have to put heat on it, massage it, and pump, or feed her on it.

Feeding her on it is not an option at all, it makes me cry, hard.

Look-A-Likes

The day Presley was born it felt so surreal because she looked EXACTLY like Jaimen. Almost every time I opened my mouth to say her beautiful name, I caught myself calling her Jaimen.

So here is how much they really look alike.

Some people will only be able to figure this one out because one of them has a bow.
And its not Jaimen.
