The day we were getting our precious Presley's newborn pictures taken, something terrible happened. Very very TERRIBLE
I had a brilliant idea that I would put my wedding ring on my finger, for the pictures you know?
My fingers weren't swollen anymore, they didn't swell much in the first place.
My finger had been naked for so long, that it rejected my wedding ring.
I pushed the ring past my big fat knuckle, that part was always hard, then as soon as it was past my knuckle the thought raced to my brain.... OH SH** WHAT DID I DO?
I immediately started pulling, and it was not budging, not at all. In fact it was getting tighter and tighter as the seconds past.
I tried butter, I mean I stuck my entire hand in the butter bin and caked it on, pulled as hard as I possibly could.
I made Alan pull, and it was breaking skin.
I stuck my whole hand in a glass of ice water for 3 minutes.
As my hand was turning blue, in walks Heather Mickey to do our pictures.
"Hi, nice to meet you. Sorry I can't shake your hand or even look at you in the face, my freaking finger is going to fall off!!"
How embarrassing??

So this all resulted to me going to the local IHC and getting my gorgeous priceless wedding ring cut off my finger, while Heather proceeded to take my lovely Presley's pictures.
(She did an amazing job without me there)
It also resulted in this...
These pictures don't even compare to how it really looked.I had the 2 doctors that were working that day in the room, and 2 nurses.
You would have thought I was some kind of medical mystery had you seen it.
Oh and these brilliant tools of the trade?- Pliers from Home Depot. Yep you heard me. Once the gold was cut through, I thought I would have immediate relief to have my finger back. Nope. Its GOLD!! It is an incredibly strong metal, its not just going to release. This is where the pliers came in, and the sheet I lay under my hand in case one of the 101 diamonds popped out.
Luckily no diamonds were harmed in this process, and I have learned my lesson.
I tell all swelling pregnant women, take that thing off before you even think you need to.
If your wondering what those little balls are, they are there to hold my ring in place. My fingers are so small, yet my knuckles are big that its the only way to get the ring over my knuckle and still stay in place on my finger.
These would be what were cutting through the skin as the swelling got worse, and almost drawing blood. (I had blood under the skin when it was all done)
So we, I, have learned:
Take your ring off at the slightest hint of swelling, no matter the circumstances.
Butter does not work.
Those little balls hurt.
Clean your ring once you get it off and put it in a safe container or it will grow fuzzy mold from the butter.
Heather takes beautiful pictures, that were a surprise to me, because I was off getting my ring cut.
Your fingers can bruise, badly.
And no it is not fixed, this is its current state.
